Bentley University is among 15 institutions honored for innovative work in faculty retirement.  Bentley demonstrated a “best practice” with a phased approach to the three stages of faculty careers: the development of a legacy, the transition into retirement, and the continuing involvement of faculty in the academic community post-retirement.

Bentley professor Jane Fedorowicz was voted President-Elect of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), a leading professional organization for individuals and organizations who lead the research, teaching, practice, and study of information systems worldwide. Fedorowicz, Rae D. Anderson Professor of Accounting and Information Systems, is the second woman to serve in the role, effective July 1, 2012.

Leading scholars from around the world will gather at Bentley to discuss key texts in the history of Chinese medicine as a preparatory step in the editing of the Handbook of Chinese Medical Literature. Bridie Andrews, associate professor of history, will use a $24,820 conference grant from the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange to organize the conference “Understanding Chinese Medical Literature” for August, 2012.

The Gerald R. Ferrera Service Fellowship, established in honor of the popular and committed professor of Law at Bentley, is designed to encourage student internships at non-profit organizations. The program will provide a stipend for two fellows each year to pursue work at non-profit organizations, government agencies and NGOs in the United States and abroad. The first fellows will be selected in spring 2013 for service during the summer.

A group of Bentley University students teamed up with nonprofits Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) and Consumers Union (CU) to survey consumer perceptions of energy codes, which are minimum requirements that builders must meet in order to ensure that homes comply with energy efficiency standards.

Debuting in January 2013, the program fulfills a strong market demand for graduate programming that prepares students and professionals for user experience research and design careers, fields that are currently rich with job opportunities, particularly in the Silicon Valley, San Jose, San Francisco, and the Bay area.

Speaking to an estimated audience of more than 8,000, Lucchino urged graduates to turn down the electronics and social media to hear their inspiration. In an impassioned speech, Tsai challenged graduates to find success by first setting out to make a difference.

International academics, corporate and society leaders gather to explore best practices and challenges in business ethics, joining keynote speaker Pamela Paton, senior vice president and chief administration officer, corporate development and global relationship management at State Street Corporation, at Bentley University’s 8th annual Global Business Ethics Symposium on Monday, May 21, 2012.

Corporate leaders, academics and thought leaders will come together at Bentley University to explore what it means to be a conscious business in the 21st century. The fourth annual Conscious Capitalism research conference, held at Bentley May 22 and 23, 2012, will focus on the theme “Conscious Cultures: Building a Flourishing Business on Love and Care.”

She was honored for outstanding achievement at the ILA annual conference in Seattle, Washington. The outstanding doctors featured in Meldrum’s research unanimously agreed that listening is at the heart of good medicine and that it is a holistic experience of coming to know patients that involves much more than simply hearing their words.
