Ah, summer ... sun, fun, time to think about writing and publishing! The MLA Directory of Periodicals, published by the Modern Language Association, is a great source for finding potential publishing opportunities in language and literature disciplines.

Now showing in the McGladrey Art Gallery is a collection of oil paintings titled “Cityscapes and Landscapes” by artist Erik Pettersen. The exhibit will be on view June 16 – July 14, 2014. To view more of Erik Pettersen’s work, follow @erik_pettersen on Instagram.

More than 300 new books, DVDs, audiobooks and OverDrive downloadable books were added to the library last month. Go to the New Books & DVDs page to browse the May new acquisitions lists by subject or format. When you see something you want, simply hit the “Request” button to place a hold on it.

The ESOL Center and the Writing Center have opened for the summer, and offer their assistance to all Bentley undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in summer session classes. Students are encouraged to make an appointment online using the links below, but walk-ins are also welcome. Both centers are located on the lower level of the library.

June and July Hours: Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
August Hours: Mondays & Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you’ve ever wondered what the Bentley University community is reading, watching, and listening to, then we have the lists for you! Our 5th annual Bentley Library Top 10 details the library’s most popular books, audiobooks and DVDs based on the number of times they have been borrowed during the academic year (excluding any items placed on reserve for a class).

In September 1956, Modern Mechanix magazine ran an article titled "Your Telephone of Tomorrow." In a summary of the article, it was predicted that people would eventually have "a tiny, touchtone, color videophone" (pictured at right).

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the library will be closed Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26, 2014.  We will resume our regular summer session hours at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27th.
