The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) awarded Bentley University professor Nathan Carter with the 2010 Henry L. Alder Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Beginning College or University Mathematics Faculty Member. Carter, who is an assistant professor of mathematical sciences, is one of only two winners of the national award.

Seven Bentley University students will attend the world-renowned Cannes International Film Festival in France as part of an elite group of students selected to participate in The American Pavilion Film Program and International Business Program from May 12 - 23, 2010.

Pam and Jack Cumming, current Bentley parents, have presented a generous $1.125 million gift to Bentley University to support programs focused on developing leadership skills in young women.  

Host of the "Dr. Oz Show" and one of America's foremost cardiothoracic surgeons, Dr. Oz delivered the keynote address to an audience of more than 1,200 at the Bentley/TIME Leadership Forum on April 22, 2010. "People don't really change what they do in life based upon what they know. They change what they do in life based on what they feel. So if you don't get people emotionally engaged in a decision - whether it's losing weight or paying attention to what's happening in Africa- they're not going to act on it."

Daniel Everett PhD, has been appointed Dean of Arts & Sciences at Bentley University, effective July 1, 2010.

Everett will join Bentley from Illinois State University, where he has served as Department Chair for Languages, Literatures and Cultures since 2006.  In February of this year, he was also named that institution’s first University Professor.

Bentley University is one of the country's most environmentally-responsible colleges according to The Princeton Review (www.PrincetonReview.com).  The nationally-known education services company selected Bentley for inclusion in a new resource it has created for college applicants: "The Princeton Review's Guide to 286 Green Colleges."

A business co-founded by sophomore Danny Wong is garnering national media attention. Blank Label, an online custom-design dress shirt company, has been featured by outlets such as Boston.com, Forbes, FastCompany and Bloomberg/BusinessWeek. Wong, who is majoring in Information Design and Corporate Communication, serves as the company's marketing guru. He launched the business in October 2009 with co-founder and CEO Fan Bi.

The Bentley University McCallum Graduate School of Business was ranked among the top 100 graduate business schools in the country and one of the top 10 in New England in the recently released U.S. News & World Report rankings of America's Best Graduate Business Schools 2011.
