The March on Washington and the speech have become as familiar to Americans as Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. One can say that both speeches changed the course of history. King’s speech changed the course of my life.

New Year’s Day is often celebrated as a way to recover from the previous night, but January 1st is also known as Public Domain Day. It is an event that is often overlooked despite its significance in education and innovation.
On January 1st, 2024, most works that were published in 1928 have now entered the public domain. When a creative work like a book, film, or song are developed, they naturally are protected by copyright law. This generally means that no one can reproduce or take ownership of the work without the permission of the owner.
...We are excited to announce our 15th annual Best Books display! This year's display features more than 250 titles that have appeared on 17 year-end best books lists*, providing a broad selection of fiction and nonfiction across subjects and genres. Some of these books are blockbusters that you'll surely recognize, while others are critically acclaimed works that may have received less publicity or escaped your attention.
...We hope everyone enjoyed a great winter break! For the next two weeks (January 8-21) the library will be open with reduced hours until spring classes start. Please note that the library is also closed on Thursday, January 11, for a staff professional development day and on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
