About
Bentley Sustainable Investment Group (BSIG) was founded in 2019 and follows sustainable, responsible, and impact investing (SRI) strategies. SRI is an investment discipline that considers environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) criteria to generate long-term competitive financial returns and positive societal impact.
BSIG is a long-only domestic equity fund that manages approximately $600,000 of the school’s endowment. The fund is comprised of six sectors, and assets are divided using the benchmark’s sector weightings as a guideline. Each sector has two Senior Analysts that lead weekly sector meetings and research companies to pitch to the general body. If 2/3rds of the fund’s general body votes yes to buying the stock, then the Executive Board and faculty advisor do a final assessment of whether to enter a position.
BSIG is open to all Bentley students, and we encourage those that are interested to learn more by attending a general body meeting on Tuesdays at 2:00 P.M. in the trading room.
Mission
Our mission is to educate students on how to integrate ESG criteria into the investment process to guide better investment decisions that generate a double impact. We believe that traditional investing strategies are shifting to integrate material environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria which influence a company's financial performance for the long-term.
The growth of sustainability is shaping the way businesses operate and thus impacting the way we invest. There is an increasing demand from investors to integrate ESG factors into their investment decisions to maximize their potential returns. Our purpose is to capitalize on this new approach to investing and drive ESG in all aspects of our investment process.
Bentley Sustainable Investment Group provides students with the opportunity to make real investment decisions. The club holds training sessions for new members that teach them how to research and value companies.
