Time to up your data visualization game in PowerPoint!

All university students have free access to the data viz tool think-cell, used by 90 of the Fortune 100 and by 9 of the top 10 business schools.  Come Friday for some free training and free food!  Learn how to quickly create advanced data visualization tools like Waterfall charts, Gantt charts, Mekko charts, and more.  Attendees can gather and learn together in person from a think-cell employee who will attend virtually, or attendees can attend remotely instead.

When someone tells you about an AI company or project, how can you get past the superficial? This event will give you three questions to ask about any AI innovation to get past the buzzwords and hype and get to the real substance. But more importantly, this event will also introduce a new room in Morison Hall for analytics and marketing students to use as a community space! Come see the new room Bentley renovated for students in these programs to use for hanging out, studying, socializing, and events like this one.

Online Safety...At What Price?  A Conversation with Kathryn Kosmides

Several centers at Bentley partnered to bring a major talk to campus in Spring 2024.  We heard from Kathryn Kosmides, founder and CEO of Garbo, a tech nonprofit trying to make online dating safer.

Interested in sports analytics?  This conference at UConn is designed for students, has plenty of educational workshops, and a low registration fee ($10 virtual, $15 in person).  Check out the conference website here.  Registration deadline is April 5, and the conference is April 12-13.

CADS hosted a study party from 5pm-7pm on December 12, 2023 in the Fenway Skybox.

We do a study party at the end of every semester to help students power through their finals week with some extra food and social time, plus the opportunity to hang out with professors and get help or tips on your final projects or coursework.

Come hear from three Bentley professors about work they've done in this space, including data wrangling, data analytics, and domain expertise in the topic of people experiencing homelessness.

In the late 1990s, Congress mandated that States gather data on their homeless communities to be eligible for federal funding from Department of Housing and Urban Development for homeless services. As a result, Homeless Management Information Systems were established. This talk will look at HMIS data, what it reflects (and what it does not reflect), and how data impacts policy, funding, and an individual's journey through homelessness.

The New England Statistical Society hosts a Data Science Day every fall specifically targeted at students!  This year it's at the University of Connecticut on October 21, and the details appear in the flyer to the right.  A limited number of Bentley students can get their registration FREE using the promo code DSD2023BENTLEY (first come first served until it runs out).  Several Bentley faculty participate in organizing the event and presenting at it.  You can find the recording of Prof. Carter's talk on Large Language Models on YouTube at this link.  Grab a few friends and drive down for this Saturday event in Storrs, CT!
